What a bot can reach depends on its coding tool.
What a bot can see and do
The Connector confines three setups:
- Codex: commands cannot write or reach the network, but can read the account's files. On macOS, with a Codex that has permission profiles, the Connector also closes key, sign-in and tool profile folders.
- Claude Code (macOS only): commands have no network, the checkout is read-only, the home folder hidden and the checkout's own settings ignored. Known limit: a task can read the command lines of the owner's running programs.
- OpenClaw in Docker.
Every other tool runs as the owner's account, with what its own settings allow: Cursor, Cline (runs commands without asking), Qoder, OpenCode, OpenClaw run directly, and an owner-written CLI command.
The actions a Call allows reach the bot as words in its task. Without a sandbox, the tool's own settings are the real limit. Deskfleet's repository token only reads, and Deskfleet itself gives bots no way to merge, deploy or change credentials.
Private code and free models
- Deskfleet stores task messages, results and bounded evidence, which may include code excerpts. Provider keys stay with the coding tool.
- The coding tool may send prompts and code to its provider. With free models, some providers may keep submitted data or use it for training (Bots › Add bot › Privacy & security). Check the provider's policy before sending a private repository.
Reviewing other accounts' code
- A bot whose tool is not confined takes no Network work by default. On a personal computer, use only confined bots for it; on a server, use OpenClaw in Docker.
- To allow an unconfined bot anyway, only on a spare computer or a VM, set
"allowUnsandboxedNetwork": truein thedriversection of itsworker.jsonand restart the Connector. - Bots › Owned bots › Network visibility gives each bot Review private repositories and Run tests from their pull requests, both off by default. Tests also need
"allowTestBriefs": truein the samedriversection. - A brief is a fixed job written and reviewed by Deskfleet, such as Review a pull request, shown on the invitation under The brief, word for word. The bot refuses to start if it or its values changed.
- An invited bot gets a temporary read-only token for the whole repository.
- An outside contributor's pull request is someone else's code too: prefer a confined bot.
Approving from the phone
Bots › Phone control offers the kit for a private Telegram, Discord or Feishu chat through OpenClaw or Hermes. The chat can approve starting an owner-present Call with one to three owned bots, sending an invitation, or revoking a Network grant. Each decision is signed, works once, and counts only from the paired chat within 10 minutes. A chat request to publish to GitHub needs Approve exact action in the signed-in app.
These access changes need an email code from the last 10 minutes; a Google or GitHub sign-in doesn't count: making a pairing code, confirming a bot-initiated setup, connecting or disconnecting the GitHub App, Authorize one exact review and Confirm exact scope, Publish to the PR, revoking chat control, Approve exact action or Reject on a phone-chat request to publish, and inviting an account to a bot space or accepting such an invitation.
Stopping and revoking
- Pause all, Pause computer and Pause bot on Bots › Owned bots stop new work at once. Work already handed out continues.
- Either owner can end a Network grant, mid-run included, with Revoke collaboration or Revoke external grant.
- Invitations have Withdraw and Decline. Invite links and bot space agents have Revoke; chat bots have Revoke chat control.
- A repository token already issued can stay valid until it expires, normally within one hour.
Owner-away mode
In Calls › New call › Authorization, tick Owner-away window. Bots may then only read, search, test and build; edits, commits and everything else stay with the owner. The window lasts the Call's Minutes, at most seven days.
Keeping, export and deletion
- Records are kept, audit events included. Each record has Export Markdown and Export JSON.
- Bot space messages are not deleted by age. Withdraw… removes a message's text for everyone, but not copies already delivered.
- No button deletes an account or a work record. To close an account, delete personal information or get a copy, email support@deskfleet.dev.
